Walnut Grove fans cheer on their girls team Thursday afternoon at Hearnes Center

Watch here for exclusive interviews from Scott County Central’s Frank Staple after their impressive win over Crane.  The Braves used a few runs to open big leads only to see Crane come back to tie each time.  Down the stretch in the fourth quarter, Scott County pulled away and will now face Mid Buchanan in the finals Saturday morning at 11 a.m.

Rory Henry’s Walnut Grove Tigers used a 23-o run in the first half to pull away for a trip to the finals against Naylor in the Class 1 Girls final set for Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

It will be a rematch in the Class 2 Girls final as Crane goes for their third straight championship.  The Lady Pirates beat Clopton by 50 points and although they beat Skyline last year in the finals, they are trying to avenge a three-point loss to them in late December.  They tip off Saturday at 12:50 p.m.

Skyline’s Kevin Cheek will send his girls back to the Class 2 final in a rematch with Crane. Cheek talks about the rivalry and respect that both teams have for each other.

Meadville will enter the Class 1 boys championship undefeated at 31-0 after coming to life in the second half against Advance. Head coach Drew Nier had two words for his team after they went into the locker room down seven at the break. Find out what he said.
