Incoming Mizzou volleyball freshman Alyssa Munlyn (Suwanee, Ga.) has been named to the Volleyball Magazine High School All-America Honorable Mention team, as announced by the national publication on Jan. 30. Munlyn is the first Mizzou signee since 2013 SEC Freshman of the Year and two-time AVCA All-American Carly Kan (Honolulu, Hawaii) to earn a spot on the Volleyball Magazine High School All-America team.

A standout at North Gwinnett High School, Munlyn is a 6-1 middle blocker who played with A5 Volleyball Club. Volleyball Magazine’s High School All-America team is divided into two 12-person teams (first team, second team) and in addition, 24 athletes are chosen as honorable mention honorees. Munlyn fell in the honorable mention category, making her one of the top 48 athletes in the nation. She was rated as the No. 36 prospect nationally by PrepVolleyball.com as well.

“Alyssa has such a high ceiling due to her remarkable athleticism and she is the type of player that we expect to help us tremendously at the net for the next four years,” head coach Wayne Kreklow said. “She had a very successful high school career and played on a very good club team in Georgia. She has garnered a lot of high praise as a volleyball player, but more importantly, she comes from a great family. We are really excited to have her on campus next year.”
