Poor defense and turnovers caused Missouri State to suffer their first Missouri Valley Conference loss and end a three-game win streak as the Bears lost at Indiana State, 71-56 on Wednesday night.  The Sycamores (7-8, 3-0 MVC) retained a share of the Valley lead behind a 24-point outing by Justin Gant who was 9-of-13 from the field with a game-high 6 rebounds. Devonte Brown added 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting for Indiana State, which scored 38 points in the paint and converted 56 percent from the field.

Missouri State (8-7, 2-1) got 14 points from Austin Ruder off the bench with Dorrian Williams and Marcus Marshall contributing 11 apiece, while the Bears matched a season high with 15 turnovers.

The Bears return to JQH Arena on Sunday at 2 p.m., to take on Illinois State
