The Oakland Raiders ended their 16-game losing streak to the Chiefs on Thursday night, as rookie Derek Carr threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to James Jones with 1:42 remaining, and then their defense made a stand to hand the Chiefs a 24-20 defeat.

The Chiefs said all week this was going to be a battle.  Oakland came in a hungry team and had something to prove in front of a national audience.

“We knew we were going to be in a dogfight,” Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said. “Prime-time game and they’ve got the guys, played a lot of tough teams very well.”

Latavius Murray ran for two touchdowns and 112 yards on just four carries, including a 90 yard run early in the second quarter that put the Raiders up 14-0.

After a near three quarters of being ineffective, the Chiefs came roaring back from a 17-3 deficit.  Alex Smith led them back for three touchdown drives in a span of eight minutes.  He threw two touchdowns.  A 19 yarder to tight end Anthony Fasano and a 30 yarder to Jamaal Charles.  Smith has still not thrown a TD pass to a wide receiver this season.

Since 1962, the Chiefs have now played five teams that were 0-10 or worse, and are 1-4 in those games.  The only win coming against the ’62 Raiders.
