Bud Sasser scored two second half touchdowns and Russell Hansbrough added one on the ground on a 4th down play in the second quarter giving Mizzou a 24-14 win over Vanderbilt Saturday at Homecoming.  The win ends a two-game home losing streak.  The two touchdown passes by Mauk are his first two against an SEC opponent this season.

The key to this game early for the Tigers was their ability to run the football. Missouri finished with 385 total yards, as Mauk was just 11 of 23 passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns while Marcus Murphy added 93 rushing yards on 16 carries. Hansbrough finished with 87 yards on 19 carries.  Sasser finished with 74 receiving yards, including 13 on a touchdown pass from Mauk with 2:27 left in the third quarter.  That came after a career long 36-yard run by Mauk.

Missouri’s defense held Vandy to just 240 yards of total offense has they started their fourth quarterback this season.  Johnny McCrary completed 17 of 31 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start.

The Tigers were also flagged for 15 penalties.

Tiger Notes:

–Marcus Murphy has 2,632 combined return yards, breaking the school record set by Jeremy Maclin.

–This is the first time Murphy and Russell Hansbrough have both rushed for at least 75 yards in the same game.

–Mauk’s two touchdown passes gives him 27 for his career, moving him to eighth on the all-time list at Missouri.
