A former Springfield police officer that shot an unarmed man has been sentenced to probation and can never again work in a job that involves carrying a gun.

KOLR reports Jason Shuck pleaded guilty Wednesday to unintentional use of deadly force, which is a misdemeanor. He shot Eric Butts in May as Butts was running from hum. Shuck later said he meant to use his Taser, not his gun.

Shuck was also required to resign from the police force, which he did in August.
