Maybe this is the Royals’ year after all?  When the bat boy starts predicting how the ball game is going to end, you know things are starting to get crazy in Kansas City.

“The bat boy who never says anything turns around and says, `Esky is going to get a hit and Gordo’s taking him in the fountain,” Royals manager Ned Yost said. “I said, `OK. Sounds like a pretty good plan.”

Alcides Escobar led off the ninth with a single off Twins closer Glen Perkins, and Alex Gordon followed with a shot to right field to give the divsion leading Royals a dramatic 2-1 victory over Minnesota.

Plenty of fireworks at the end of a game that started as a pitcher’s duel.  As he’s been accustomed to all season, Danny Duffy didn’t get any run support.  He allowed only four hits and two walks over 6.2 innings, but gave up the only run of the game up to that point a double to Brian Dozier and a  single to Joe Mauer to start the seventh.

Ricky Nolasco shut out the Royals for seven innings allowing just three hits.
