At the Fore State Championship hosted by Oklahoma at the Shangri-La Resort on Grand Lake, teams from Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas played morning Fourball matches on the Heritage and Legend Courses. Oklahoma led with 5 points followed by Missouri and Arkansas with 2.5 points each and Kansas finished with 2 points.
The afternoon session of Foursomes matches has Oklahoma retaining it’s lead with a total of 9 points for the day, Missouri has 6 points, and Kansas and Arkansas both finished the afternoon with 4.5 points.
Fore State Director, Stephany Powell says the new format is fair.
“We were able to pair players more easily in a way that complements their games. Today we got ‘out lucked’.. We would be a foot from the hole to win and they would hole out from the bunker. Another team lost to a hole out eagle. But then we had a team who was four down and won their match on no. 16 by winning 6 holes in a row! Everybody is hitting the ball good, and we’re really excited to play singles tomorrow. ”
Tuesday’s singles matches will determine the final point total for the championship.
