The Rally Squirrel helped the Cardinals during their post-season run, but apparently it wasn’t the same squirrel who showed up in Cleveland to check out a couple of plays from the outfield during the Royals-Indians game on Monday night. Behind a pair of two-run homers, the home team handed the Royals their second loss in a row, a 4-3 final.

Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie gave up a double to Jeff Kipnis in the fourth and Michael Brantley followed with a homer over the right-field wall. In the sixth inning, a double by Nick Swisher was followed by another two-run shot to right, coming from Kipnis.

In the fifth, the Royals briefly grabbed the lead. Mike Moustakas and Alcides Escobar opened the inning with back-to-back doubles to make it a 2-1 deficit against Zach McAllister. The lefty pitcher fielded Jarrod Dyson’s bunt and threw the ball past Swisher at first for an error, allowing Escobar to score. Later in the inning, Omar Infante singled in Dyson.
