The St. Louis Blues let a 2-0 lead slip away at Chicago, where the defending Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks got two important points in the standings with a 4-3 overtime victory.

T.J. Oshie assisted on David Backes’ 31st goal just 17 second into the first and scored his 11th of the season on a power play in the second to give the Blues the early lead, but the Hawks responded with three, second period goals to go up 3-2.

A controversial call came on the Hawks first goal from Marian Hossa.  It appeared that Hossa first kicked the puck into the next, and then it was unclear if the puck clear the red line that it took a long video review by the NHL.  Obviously, Blues goalin Ty Conklin didn’t agree.

“They called it a goal on the ice, which is fine, that’s understandable,” Conklin said. “But the reason we have video replay is to get the right call. They’re probably going to make it into the playoffs anyways, but do we really have to make it that obvious that the league wants them in? They’re going to get in anyways.”

Halfway through the third, Chris Stewart tied it for the Blues by muscling through the defense and beating Hawks goalie Corey Crawford under the cross bar.

In overtime, Hawks captain Jonathan Toews provided the game winner for his 32nd of the year.
