Shelby Miller (0-2) allowed his fourth homer in two starts and faced trouble most of the day as he went six innings, and allowed three runs as the Cardinals are unable to sweep Cincinnati in a 4-0 final, Wednesday afternoon at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals finished with four hits and how two wiped out by double plays as Reds starter Mike Leake (1-1) allowed four hits and a walk in eight scoreless innings.

Devin Mesoraco hit the two-run home run for the Reds off Miller, who dropped their ninth series in their last 10 in St. Louis. Billy Hamilton had three hits and  two steals, and scored easily after tagging up on a shallow outfield pop fly. Hamilton entered batting .091 with two hits and seven strikeouts in 22 at-bats and left town batting .192.

Matt Adams went 1 for 3, with the only extra base hit, his fourth double.  He’s hitting .364 on the season.
