The 2014 Cotton Bowl Champion, Missouri Tiger football team was honored at halftime of the Mizzou-Tennessee men’s basketball game Saturday afternoon. The Cotton Bowl trophy was presented and head coach Gary Pinkel was awarded a framed jersey with the number “102,” in honor of his total victories at Mizzou.
However, the biggest applause came from Michael Sam who joined his teammates at center court. He received a standing ovation from the sold out crowd and showed his appreciation with an emphatic fist pump towards the student section.
It was just one week ago that Sam publicly announced he was gay. Prior to the game, several hundred fans lined the streets near the arena in a show of support for Sam.
Watch the crowd go wild for Sam.
