Blues forward Alexander Steen left Thursday night’s game against the New York Rangers after he sustained a lower-body injury in the second period. Steen fell into the boards after taking a hit. He returned for one more shift, but went to the locker room late in the second period and did not return.
“We’ll see where he is in a day or so,” coach Ken Hitchcock said after the game. “He’ll be back.”
Steen has played in 39 games this season, scoring 26 goals and 16 assists.
Steen started the season red hot, scoring at least a goal in 10 of his first 11 games. He missed almost a month of the season and just returned on Jan. 18 after battling through concussion like symptoms. In his return, he had two goals and two assists. He scored the only goal in the 7-1 loss to New Jersey on Tuesday and scored the game’s opening goal last night in the Blues’ 2-1 win over the Rangers. Watch, courtesy of NHL.com
