Michael Sam meets with the media for the first time since fall camp in August.

After being named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation, Sporting News and CBS Sports first team All-American lists, Michael Sam becomes the 12th player in Missouri history to be a consensus first-team All-American.   He joins a list that includes:  Center Darold Jenkins (1941), end Danny LaRose (1960), defensive back Johnny Roland (1965), defensive back Roger Wehrli (1968), tight end Kellen Winslow (1978), offensive tackle John Clay (1986), center Rob Riti (1999), tight end Martin Rucker (2007), all-purpose man Jeremy Maclin (2007 and 2008) and tight end Chase Coffman (2008).

Sam led the Southeastern Conference in both quarterback sacks (10.5) and tackles for loss (18.0), ranking in the top-10 nationally in those categories. He was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press.  He was also named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year by the media and its co-Defensive Player of the Year by the conference’s coaches.

The 6-foot-2, 255-pound senior from Hitchcock, Texas, has accepted an invite to play in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., on Jan. 25, which kicks off at 3 p.m. on NFL Network.
