2nd quarter recap

–On Mizzou’s first play of the 2nd quarter, James Franklin threw behind Washington. There was some miscommunication and the ball was picked off.

–On third down, Kony Ealy stripped Auburn QB Nick Marshall for the second time today. E.J. Gaines scooped up the ball and went in untouched from 11 yards out to put Mizzou up 17-14.

–Auburn rebounded with a nine-play, 75 yard drive. Missouri’s front line is getting beat by the Auburn offensive line…they are creating big holes. Auburn up 21-17. 171 yards on the ground on 29 carries. 268 total yards of offense.

–Mizzou went empty backfield again and completed a 24 yard pass to Marcus Murphy to get back into Auburn territory. Caught a break, when Marcus Lucas fumbled the ball, but it went out of bounds. On 3rd and 5 from the Auburn 17, Franklin hit Bud Sasser on a great pass, but Sasser was hit out of bounds. Andrew Baggett kicked a 34 yard field goal to pull to within 21-20 with 7:19 to play in the first half.

–Auburn struck right back with a 52 yard run by Tre Mason, then two plays later, broke a tackled to the four and went right back up the middle for another touchdown. With 6:26 to play, Auburn went up 28-20.

–Mizzou stopped Auburn and got the ball back with under two minutes to play. Starting at their eight yard line, Franklin drove the Tigers down the field and connected with DGB on a 55 yard touchdown pass with :18 to play to pull Missouri to within 28-27.

Mizzou has 304 yards and Auburn 376.
