L’Damian Washington looks to add to his career best totals tonight at Ole Miss.

Senior wide receiver L’Damian Washington has emerged as one of the top receiving targets in the SEC. He is tied for second in the league with 9 TD catches through 10 games, and his average per catch (18.89) and yards per game (75.6) rank sixth and eighth in the conference, respectively.  The 6’4 Shereveport, La., native has 36 catches for 680 yards and nine scores, all career highs. His previous best were 25 grabs for 443 yards last season, and he accounted for a previous-best three touchdowns as a sophomore in 2011.

According to Mizzou athletics, historian Tom Orf points out that Washington’s 9 career touchdown catches of 20-plus yards ranks fourth in school history behind Danario Alexander (14), Jeremy Maclin (13) and Mel Gray (11)…that’s some good company.

When Washington says he’s happy to have James Franklin back for this game against Ole Miss, that’s not a knock against Maty Mauk.  He just knows the struggles Franklin has gone through and to finally be back when it looked like his career may have ended in Georgia.
