Alex Ovechkin and Steven Stamkos are two of the NHL’s top powerhouse stars known for taking over games with their goal scoring ability. Add Blues forward Alex Steen to that list as well. Steen scored his NHL leading 14th goal on the night after Ovechkin and Stamkos tied Steen earlier with their 13th tallies of the season. Steen’s goal proved to be the game winner in a 3-2 final over the Calgary Flames.

Steen’s goal gave the Blues a 3-0 lead at the 5:55 mark of the second period, but Calgary rallied with two goals off backup Brian Ellott in the third to make it interesting. Maxim Lapierre scored his first goal with the Blues, Vladimir Tarasenko also scored, and Jordan Leopold, a former Flames defenseman, picked up his first two points of the season. Elliott earned his 100th career victory by stopping 18 shots to help the Blues win for the fifth time in six games and improve to 10-2-2 on the season.
