The Cardinals only got two hits off Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers, but Jon Jay’s sacrifice fly after David Freese’s double and A.J. Ellis’ passed ball in the fifth stood up as the Redbirds grabbed a 1-0 victory and 2-0 series lead in the NLCS.

Hanley Ramirez and Andre Ethier were out of the Dodgers’ lineup with injuries. Los Angeles had chances, but went 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position. Star rookie Yasiel Puig struck out in all four of his at-bats, including the sixth with the bases loaded and one out against Michael Wacha.

Wacha finished 6.2 innings with five hits and walk and eight strike outs.
