Shelby Miller won his 15th game, going seven innings allowing one run on four hits with three walks and three strikeouts as the Cardinals swept the Washington Nationals and moved another step closer to the NL Central title with a 4-1 victory on Wednesday.  The Cardinals stopped Jordan Zimmermann (19-9) in his only shot at 20 wins, as he allowed all four runs in seven innings. Matt Adams hit his 17th home run and Yadier Molina and Matt Carpenter added RBIs.

The Reds lost 1-0 to the Mets on  and were eliminated from the divisional race.  The Cardinals magic number to clinch the division is now one, after the Cubs beat the Pirates 4-2 at Wrigley Field on Wednesday afternoon.
