An economist who tracks wireless taxes by state says Missouri has the seventh highest wireless taxes in the country. Economist Scott Mackey, with KSE Partners in Vermont, has been tracking wireless taxes for ten years. He says Missouri’s are more than double the average rate, and a loophole allows for double-taxing.  Different cities within Missouri have different tax rates–Jefferson City, St. Louis, and Kansas City have some of the highest rates.  However, the Wireless Tax Fairness Act places a freeze on new state and local wireless taxes for five years–one of the co-sponsors is Missouri Senator Roy Blunt.
