Shelby Miller picked up his 12th win of the season, going seven innings of three-hit ball and with the help from Matt Carpenter and Carlos Beltran, who each homered, the Cardinals beat the Atlanta Braves for the third straight game, in a 6-2 final.

Miller worked more than six innings for the first time in 13 starts and performed well under the pressure of holding a one-run lead.

The Cardinals blew the game open with three in the seventh on an RBI double from Holliday and RBI singles from Beltran and Yadier Molina. Holliday and Beltran each finished with two RBIs.

The Cardinals slide back into a first-place tie with Pittsburgh, who lost 6-3 at San Francisco.
