The Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Cardinals have been keeping their eyes on Chicago White Sox starter Jake Peavy. He was seen following Sunday’s game against the Royals following a clubhouse attendant with four suitcases. Leads you to believe, he and the Sox think a deal will get done.

The Cardinals are looking for starting pitching, and GM John Mozeliak said the club is willing to part with top prospects, but a deal just two days before the deadline is still not a sure thing. Mo may be downplaying the club’s true need for another starter.  The Cardinals can also add salary to their payroll and that would be a key element in this trade. Peavy is due close to $5 million this year and $14.5 million in 2014.

The other plus for the Cardinals. Peavy appears to be healthy again. Last year he made 32 starts. Prior to that he only averaged 16 starts over the previous four seasons with the Sox and San Diego. This year, he’s 8-4 with a 4.32 ERA for a bad White Sox team.

Finally, I’ll leave you with an epic fail in the boxing ring.  We have a knockout before the 2nd round, but it doesn’t involve the boxers.  Check it out right here on Missourinet Mornings.  Watch all my videos on Google+ or YouTube.
