Cardinals starting pitcher Chris Carpenter says the numbness has returned in his hand while pitching on Saturday for Triple-A Memphis. He met with medical staff on Sunday and then GM John Mozeliak yesterday at Busch Stadium.  The plan now is to re-evaluate with team doctors to see what the next step in the process is. Carpenter said he’s not ready to give up and call it quits, but he’s also realistic. He said he knew during his last outing that the symptoms were returning. This afternoon Carpenter spoke with reporters.
