Missouri Tigers running back Henry Josey was named a candidate for the 2013 Doak Walker Award on Thursday. The award is annually presented to the nation’s top running back and is named for Walker, a three-time All-American running back at SMU.
Josey sat out all of 2012 recovering from multiple surgeries and now is fully cleared to play as he looks to regain the form when he rushed for nearly 1,200 yards in just 10 games as a sophomore.
At the time of his injury in 2011, Josey totaled the fifth-best rushing season in team history with 1,168 yards, nine touchdowns and an 8.1 yards per carry average. At the time of the injury, Josey was leading the Big 12 Conference and ranked fifth nationally in rushing and finished 2nd and 12th, respectively.
