Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina had two hits, including a homer, and drove in two runs to back a solid outing from starting pitcher Lance Lynn as the Cardinals beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-1. Molina found out just before the game that he has been suspended for one game and fined by Major League Baseball for making contact with umpire Mike Everitt during his argument at first base on Sunday. Molina appealed the ruling from the commissioner’s office.

Carlos Beltran also homered, it was his 13th of the season, to help Lynn get to 8-1 on the year. Lynn allowed one run and five hits, struck out six and walked one. He is 8-1 for the second consecutive season while becoming the third National League pitcher to reach eight wins, trailing Patrick Corbin’s league-leading nine for Arizona, whom the Cardinals will not face in this four-game series.
