Billy Butler drove in two runs with a bases loaded single during a seven-run third inning as the Royals take the series from the Los Angeles Angels, winning 9-5 on Wednesday night. Butler entered this series in a 4-for-35 slump, but went 8-for-13 with a homer and nine RBIs. He had just as many RBIs in this series as he had in 103 at-bats over his last 25 games.

Lorenzo Cain hit a three-run double to back Wade Davis who improves to 3-3 after giving up five runs and nine hits over 5.1 innings.

Fred White, who broadcast Royals games on radio for 25 seasons beginning in 1973 died Wednesday in a hospice at age 76 due to complications from melanoma, just one day after the club announced his retirement as director of broadcast services and the Royals Alumni. White was in Anaheim on Sept. 30, 1992, when George Brett got his 3,000th hit.
