Mitchell Boggs was charged with four more runs in this young season, as the Phillies used a three run homer late to win the series finale 7-4 over the Cardinals on Sunday night in Philadelphia. Boggs saw his ERA balloon up to 12.56.

In just four of his ten outings, he hasn’t allowed a run. In fact, he’s been downright dominant. He’s allowed just two hits and a walk with four strikeouts in four innings. However, in the other 4.2 innings, it’s been disaster. Boggs has allowed 11 hits and five walks along with 13 runs (12 earned). According to manager Mike Matheny, fans should not be concerned.

“He’s a big part of our club. He’ll get over it,” Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said. “I don’t see it as mechanical so much as it is about confidence. He’s had some good outings, but he struggled tonight.”

The Cardinals at 10-8 travel to Washington for a three game series.  The Nationals are 10-8 and in second place behind Atlanta.  The Cards are in a log jam in the NL Central as just one game separates the Reds (1st) from the Brewers (4th).
