No. 12 Mizzou softball’s doubleheader at Iowa, originally scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, in Iowa City, Iowa, has been cancelled due to inclement weather conditions. The Tigers next head to No. 11 LSU (35-9, 11-4 SEC), playing a three-game series from Friday-Sunday, at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge, La. The Friday and Saturday contests both begin at 6 p.m., while the Sunday finale is set for 1 p.m.

Expected thunderstorms in the Columbia area have forced the postponement of Missouri State’s non-conference game with Missouri, scheduled for 6 p.m. this evening at Taylor Stadium.  The Bears and Tigers will make up the date next Wednesday, April 24, with a 6 p.m. contest in Columbia.

After a tough weekend at No. 3 Vanderbilt and an eight-game road trip, that included a 5-4 win against Missouri State, the Mizzou baseball team will return home to Taylor Stadium for the final game of an annual home-and-home series with the Bears.

Mizzou jumped out to a 5-1 lead before holding off a furious comeback from the Bears to win at Hammons Field, 5-4, last Tuesday (April 9). Sophomore John Miles came in during the ninth inning and got a huge double play to end the game after the first two Bear hitters reached to open the ninth. Keaton Steele went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the win while Logan Pearson drove in two with a triple in the eighth. Kendall Keeton ended up driving in the winnign run with an RBI single in the eighth. Jace James earned the win for Mizzou, going 3.0 innings, allowing one run on three hits while walking none and striking out two.

Oklahoma State’s four-run fifth inning proved to be too much for Missouri State Tuesday evening, as the 27th-ranked Cowboys overcame an early deficit to beat the Bears 6-4 at Hammons Field.
