The Kansas City Royals rode bases-clearing triples by Chris Getz and Alex Gordon to a 13-4 victory over Philadelphia Friday.

The triples were part of three-hit performances by Getz and Gordon that contributed to the Royals’ 19-hit blitz.

The K.C. attack included Eric Hosmer going 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored, Alcides Escobar’s solo homer and two RBI, and Lorenzo Cain’s two RBI and one run scored.

Wade Davis gave up four runs on nine in a four-inning start in his Royals debut and the win went to Bruce Chen (1-0) who put in one inning of scoreless relief.

The Phillies got solo home runs from Erik Kratz and Domonic Brown, and Ryan Howard knocked in two runs.

Philadelphia starter Kyle Kendrick (0-1) took the loss, allowing five runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings. The Philadelphia bullpen gave up eight runs on 11 hits.
