The National Weather Service in Springfield says a snow storm is moving through Southwest Missouri and surrounding areas today, continuing into this afternoon and evening, but because of drier air than expected, snowfall amounts won’t be as much as originally predicted.

Meteorologist Dave Gaede says the heaviest snow will still fall in the Springfield area, but not the six inches possible forecasted yesterday. Totals are expected to be four inches at the most.

One to three inches of snow is expected in areas extending from the center.
