First, the Philadelphia Eagles signed Michael Vick to a new contract. Then yesterday, the team signed former Oregon Duck QB Dennis Dixon, who played under head coach Chip Kelly in Eugene in 2007. It would appear quarterback Nick Foles would be the odd man out. If that is the case, there is a strong possibility Andy Reid could pick up his former signal caller for the Chiefs.
USA Today reports a source with inside information on the Chiefs said that Reid and the coaching staff would be interested in Foles. However, Philadelphia hasn’t notified the Chiefs if Foles is available.
In seven games under Reid last season, Foles threw for 1,699 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions. Foles led a last-minute comeback victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14. It was the only victory in Reid’s final 12 games as Eagles coach.
Unless the Chiefs use their draft picks and free agency to pick up some wide receivers, it won’t matter whether it’s Matt Cassel, Brady Quinn, Foles or Alex Smith of San Francisco at QB…throwing the ball with success in KC will be difficult.
