A Columbia police officer has been reunited with his dog, Fano.

When Officer Ron Sanders was fired for excessive force in 2011, the Columbia City Council refused to let him buy the dog even though private citizens have reportedly raised more than $10,000 to help buy him.

Fano was sold to the Clarence police department for $1, but was reportedly too aggressive for the small town. Another officer bought the dog and brought him back to Sanders.

The Columbia Police Officers’ Association says Sanders was the only human Fano ever bonded with.
