The St. Louis Blues scored three, first period goals and cruised to their sixth win of the season, winning at Columbus 4-1 on Thursday night. The Blues improve to 6-1-0 ahead of a Friday night showdown with Detroit.

Barrett Jackman scored 2:19 into the game and the Blues added another power play goal from Patrik Berglund at the halfway mark of the period.  Then rookie Viktor Tarasenko added his fifth goal of the season that chased Blue Jackets starter Sergei Bobrovsky, just 13:22 into the game. Steve Mason came on and stopped 13 shots the rest of the way.  David Backes added an empty net goal late.

Ken Hitchcock started Brian Elliot in goal who made 24 saves for his third win of the season. Derrick Brassard scored a power-play goal for Columbus, which was playing for the third time in four nights and has lost six of seven.
