West Central Missouri Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler, who represents two major military bases says she’s concerned about the impact of possible spending cuts to the military.

Representative Hartzler says sequestration needs to be addressed permanently to make sure our military is not “hollowed out” or jeorpardized by the impact of cuts while the Pentagon was not granted big budget cuts that the sequestration would have brought about and that could effect the military.

Hartzler says we’ve got to deal with this. “And in the House last summer we did, we found funding to restore our military cuts byt cutting wasteful programs elsewhere,” she says. “Unfortunately, the President and Senate haven’t made cuts elsewhere.”

She says that’s just something she’ll keep advocating for. “There’s only a few things that Congress should be doing and one of them is to provide for the common defense,” Hartzler says. “And so, we cannot allow our national security to be jeorpardized.”

A budget deal was previously passed that only extends the sequestration impact for two more months before a final decision is made on the spending cuts.
