Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel was at the scene and witnessed the last moments of Javon Belcher’s life Saturday morning outside the Chiefs’ training facility at Arrowhead Stadium. Crennel then led the team, who collectively decided to play their game Sunday against Carolina.  Afterwards, he remained strong in front of his team, as he addressed them in the lockerroom and offered an opening statement to the victim’s families during his postgame press conference.

Crennel said he knows that this tragedy will continue to go on, but he felt the best therapy for this team, and himself, was to play the game and give their minds a much needed mental break.  Crennel said they are football players and football coaches and “we play and coach on Sunday.”

KCChiefs.com released video of Crennel and team chairman Clark Hunt addressing the team in the locker room following the game.
