The Missouri Valley College football team will host a semifinal game in the NAIA Football Championship Series Saturday Dec. 1 at Gregg‐Mitchell Field against Marian (Ind.) University. The No. 2 Vikings bring a 12‐0 record into the matchup after defeating Ottawa (Kan.) University in the opening round Saturday Nov. 17, 56‐21, and defeating Bethel (Tenn.) University in the quarterfinals Saturday Nov. 24, 10‐7. No. 5 Marian improved to 10‐1 on the season after defeating St. Francis (Ind.) 45‐34. The Knights defeated Northwestern (Iowa) 42‐32 in the FCS opening round.

The Vikings are now 3‐0 under Head Coach Paul Troth in the quarterfinal round. The Vikings last appeared in the semifinals in the 2007 NAIA Championship Series, and also appeared in the semifinals in 2006. Both years the Vikings lost to Sioux Falls (S.D.) on the road.

The other semifinal matchup is No. 4 St. Xavier (Ill.) at No. 3 Morningside (Iowa). The winner of the two semifinal games will meet in Rome, Ga. in the 2012 NAIA Football National Championship Thursday Dec. 13.
