In Saturday’s loss to Syracuse, Mizzou quarterback James Franklin left the game in the fourth quarter after it was described as him getting “dinged up.” After the game I was able to get some video of Franklin coming off the field and he did not look good. Not sure how well you can see his facial expression, but he basically had none. He was walking, but he didn’t look like he was there. Someone escorted Franklin off the field.

The SEC has crept back into the BCS title talk.  Notre Dame is a win over USC away from playing for the National Championship. They are #1 in the BCS Standings.  Alabama is 2nd followed by Georgia 3rd. If Bama beats Auburn and Georgia beats Georgia State, those two meet in the SEC Championship with the winner most likely heading to the championship game.  Florida is 4th.  Oregon 5th, K-State 6th.  Notre Dame needs only to beat USC (7-4), with Matt Barkley injured, to secure a spot in the BCS title game for the first time. In the 76-year history of the AP poll, Notre Dame has been crowned national champion by the media panel eight times, the last in 1988. The only other school with as many AP championships is Alabama.

Oregon and Kansas State were at the top of the BCS race and the Ducks and Wildcats had to win the rest of their games and they would have played for the BCS championship, but Baylor blew out Bill Snyder’s Wildcats and the Ducks were dropped by Stanford in OT.

Derek Dooley is out at Tennessee. The university announced the anticipated firing Sunday after Dooley posted a 15-21 record that included an 0-15 mark against Top 25 teams. Dooley was 4-19 in Southeastern Conference competition during his three-year tenure and had lost 14 of his last 15 league games.
