Polls have just closed throughout the state–there are 8 Congressional seats up for election instead of 9 due to redistricting, and the Secretary of State’s office expects over three million people in the state (approximately 72 percent) to have turned out to vote.

With several precincts in Monroe County, in northeast Missouri, reporting, Todd Akin is ahead of Claire McCaskill with 54 percent of that vote; in the gubernatorial race, Dave Spence has 53 percent of that vote over Jay Nixon with 43 percent; and in the Lieutenant Governor’s race, Peter Kinder has 62 percent over Susan Montee with 33 percent.
