An Engineer company of the Missouri National Guard based in Macon has received orders to deploy to Afghanistan. More than 180 soldiers of the bridge building 1438th Engineer Company, the “River Otters,” next summer will replace units from the Lousiana and California National Guards to dismantle bridges to be shipped back to the U.S.
