The Kansas City Board of Trade has been sold.

The 126 million dollar deal sees the Board taken over by the CME group, which owns the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the Chicago Board of Trade and the New York Mercantile Exchange. The Board was founded in 1856 and is the world’s largest hard red winter wheat market.

Under the deal, the CME group will keep a committee of Board market participants for advice on hard red winter wheat futures for at least three years and keep the Board trading floor open for at least six months.
