Missouri Basketball tipped off its 2012-13 campaign in front of an enthusiastic crowd as the Tigers hosted Mizzou Madness this evening at Mizzou Arena.

Both the Mizzou men’s and women’s programs participated in scrimmages with Head Coach Robin Pingeton’s squad opening the event. Her third team at Missouri looked polished and the Tiger White Team grabbed a 31-21 win over Mizzou Black thanks to 60-percent shooting from the floor.

Sydney Crafton led the way scoring 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting for the White. The Jefferson City native hit a pair of treys in the win and grabbed three boards.

Freshman Michelle Hudyn led the Mizzou Black with nine points. The Kitchener, Ontario, product hit 3-of-4 treys, dished two assists and added three rebounds.

On the men’s side Earnest Ross scored 11 points to lead Mizzou Gold to a 28-24 win over Mizzou Black. Ross was 4-of-5 from the floor and helped the Gold push its lead to as many as nine (17-8) before a late charge from Mizzou Black’s Jabari Brown and Keion Bell. Brown, a transfer from Oregon, was a perfect 3-of-3 from the floor to finish with seven points, while Bell, the winner of tonight’s dunk contest, hit 3-of-5 shots, including a trey on the wing.

Newcomer Tony Criswell and senior Michael Dixon added seven points apiece for the Gold. Criswell was 3-of-5, while Dixon hit a pair of jumpers.
