An expert has testified that a southeast Missouri man had bath salts in his system when his shot and killed his son in May.

40-year-old Charles Goforth of Catron is accused of second degree murder in the shooting death of Patrick Goforth, who was 20. A criminologist has testified that a substance called alpha-PVP was found in samples taken from the elder Goforth.

A judge has allowed the trial to proceed. Arraignment is later this month.
