Former Mizzou running back Derrick Washington was convicted of deviate sexual assault in 2011 and spent 120 days in jail. After Washington completed “shock incarceration,” he later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor domestic assault against an ex-girlfriend, but did not spend any additional time in jail. Now, Washington is back on the football field.

Wearing jersey number two, the Raymore, MO., native is getting a second chance with the Division II Tuskegee University Golden Tigers.  This past Saturday Washington rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns in his team’s 35-17 win over Johnson C. Smith in Atlanta. Washington was named the MVP of the Inner City Classic. His head coach Willie Slater had this to say about Washington’s performance. “He had missed a couple of cuts upfield early,” Slater said. “But, when he gets going, he is hard to stop.”
