Central Missouri 31, #3 Northwest Missouri 21

Central Missouri jumped out to a 24-7 first half lead and held off #3 Northwest Missouri for the 31-21 upset win. The Mules went four for four on red zone chances as they rebounded from a week one loss on the road at Missouri Western.  Colter Smith went 28-44 for 301 yards and four touchdowns hitting Anthon Kirkwood for two of those scores. For the Bearcats Trevor Adams was 28-49 for 335 yards and two touchdowns.

Lindenwood 35, Southwest Baptist 14

The Lindenwood Lions won their home opener in the MIAA with a 35-14 victory over Southwest Baptist. Lindenwood led 21-14 at the half and scored all of the second half points to earn their second straight victory.  Ben Gomez threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns and Denodus O’Bryant rushed for 86 to lead the Lions. On defense Pierre Desir had two interceptions which he returned for a total of 51 yards one touchdown. For the Bearcats Derwyn Lauderdale caught nine passes for 103 yards and Dan Conner threw for 211 yards and one touchdown.

Missouri Southern 27, Northeastern State 21

Missouri Southern earned their second straight win by less than seven points as they held off Northeastern State for a 27-21 victory. The Lions ran for 327 yards in the game and had only 35 yards through the air as they held of the Riverhawks.  Kellen Cox led all rushers with 108 yards and one touchdown while Bryant Venson ran for 50 yards and a touchdown. For the Riverhawks Johnny Deaton threw for 287 yards and two touchdowns.

 #14 Missouri Western 56, William Jewell 0

#14 Missouri Western blanked William Jewell 56-0 in the only non-MIAA action of the week. The Griffons racked up 539 yards of total offense while the held the Cardinals to just 211 yards.  Michael Hill rushed for 210 yards and two touchdowns on the evening. Travis Partridge threw for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Jeremy Weston and Kirk Ressequie picked off passes for MWSU.

Truman 42, Lincoln 12

Truman held Lincoln to 289 yards of total offense as they earned a 45-12 win in their home opener. The Bulldogs had 442 yards of total offense as they outscored the Blue Tigers 35-6 in the first half.   Conrad Schottel threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns while Will Mosquera rushed for 74 yards and three scores. For LU Jacob Morris threw for 195 yards and a touchdown.
