Two Jefferson County men have been arrested for the brutal beating of a man on Duval Street in Key West, Fla.

Witnesses say the two men on rented scooters got into an argument with two Key West men who were on foot. The men parked their scooters and beat the victim into unconsciousness, then fled on the scooters. The victim was treated for multiple facial fractures at Ryder Trauma Center in Miami.

Key West detectives were able to track down 25-year-old Phillip Compton and 32-year-old Timothy Godfrey, both of Jefferson County, who admitted they took part in the crime.

Arrest warrants were obtained and Compton was arrested by Key West Police. However, Godfrey, made it back to Missouri before being arrested.

He’s being held in the Jefferson County jail on $75,000 bond.
