A fire in a far north-central Missouri farm has killed dozens of pigs.

The fire happened in a barn on a farm northwest of Unionville. A neighbor reported seeing smoke coming from the metal building but by the time crews could get to the scene the building was fully involved and the roof had collapsed.

More than 100 pigs died but several others were let out and escaped.

The cause of the fire is believed to have been electric in nature.
