Matt Holliday hit his 20th homer in the first and then with the club down 5-3 in the seventh, Holliday went deep to left field for his 21st, a three run shot, that put the Cardinals up as they went on to be the Colorado Rockies 9-6 on Wednesday night.  The Cardinals failed to make up any ground in the Central. Pittsburgh beat the Cubs 8-4, and the Reds won over San Diego 6-4. Yadier Molina had three hits and Jake Westbrook pitched six innings to get the win.

Holliday, who homered and drove in four runs in the first game of the series and enjoyed playing Colorado anywhere this season. In six games against the Rockies he is 13-for-24. “I like to play here,” he said. “I see the ball well here and seem to have fairly good success.”

Relief pitcher Edward Mujica joined the Cardinals last night after the club traded for him with the Marlins. His life was turned upside down. In addition to getting adjusted to a new team, he is also trying to move his wife and newborn daughter Brianna who was born July 12th. To make room, the Cardinals sent down Lee’s Summit native Trevor Rosenthal.
