2012 National League All-Star manager Tony La Russa named St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday as the replacement for Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina on the NL’s active roster for the 83rd All-Star Game.

La Russa, who managed the Cardinals to a World Series championship in 2011 before retiring after 16 years with the club, named Holliday to the squad following Molina’s placement on the bereavement list earlier on Friday.

The 32-year-old Holliday will be making his sixth All-Star appearance and entered play on Friday batting .318 with 14 home runs and 56 RBI over 80 games this season.
