A Jefferson County jury has convicted former policeman Robert Brooks of murdering his fiance in 2006. It’s the second trial for Brooks, who was a Calverton Park policeman at the time. The first verdict was thrown out by the State Supreme court becuase of inappropriate comments by the prosecutor during the first trial. Brooks had claimed he shot fiance Amanda Cates in self defense.
