Carlos Beltran’s three run homer helped kick start the offense for the third game in a row as the Cardinals completed the weekend sweep of the Royals with an 11-8 victory Sunday afternoon.

The Cardinals only had eight hits, but they came in at-bats when they needed runs driven in. Beltran led the charge with three RBIs, Allen Craig and Matt Holliday each had two RBIs. The game wasn’t iced away until a four-run eight inning opened up an 11-6 lead. Starters Lance Lynn and Jonathan Sanchez both struggled, allowing six runs each, in less than six innings, on a day when the on field temperature was over 110.

Mike Moustakas led the Royals with two homers off Lynn and three RBIs. Billy Butler hit a two run homer in the bottom of the ninth.
